Smart Update
Updates overwrite your previous version of ANIMOIDS. However, the update procedure will not overwrite your configuration data nor or any new Animoids you previously created.

Note that, in some cases, an update will overwrite the original Animoid, Texture and Behavior files delivered with ANIMOIDS. So, if you have modified any of those files, you should rename them before performing an upgrade.

To start the Smart Update procedure, select Smart Update... from the main Help menu as shown here:

Once selected, you'll get a dialog that says either:

Assuming an update is available, click Next >>> to start downloading the files required for the update:

During the file download process you can press the Hide button on the dialog and continue working with ANIMOIDS while the download runs in the background. (This is not an option if your old version of ANIMOIDS has expired.)

If you exit ANIMOIDS, the download will be interrupted. But you can restart where you left off by starting Smart Update at a later time.

The status dialog can be manually reopened at any time by selecting the Help, Smart Update... menu item. The dialog will also re-open automatically when all the files have been downloaded and are ready to install.

Once the files are complete, a dialog will pop up to ask if you want to install the newly downloaded files:

If you click No you can repeat the Smart Update process at a later time. The files you already downloaded won't need to be downloaded again.

To proceed click Yes. This will close your ANIMOIDS program and start an installer that will update the code. Depending upon whether or not you have unsaved changes in your existing ANIMOIDS program, you may be asked if you want to save those changes before you proceed.

The installer looks very similar to the original Smart Update Dialog:

Note that, you must be connected to the Internet when the Installer runs, since it starts by downloading some config data needed for the install.

Once complete, the Installer looks like:

For Microsoft Windows users, you can click on the Done button to close the Installer and start the new upgraded version of ANIMOIDS.

One great feature of ANIMOIDS Smart Update is that, if the update is interrupted for any reason (e.g. your internet connection dies or you exit the program), you can restart ANIMOIDS and resume the download procedure from where you left off by selecting the Help, Smart Update... menu item.
